Education and Experience Qualifications
  1. Direct-care staff must have at least a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Must pass all background checks to include SACWIS checks, AP search, Sex offender checks.
  1. Direct-care staff must be available to work on-site in the facility, at least four days per week.
  2. Must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide trauma-informed care to children.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Direct-care staff will assume all normal parental duties and responsibilities for the children and home, including, but not limited to: providing 24-hour supervision for children; cooking; some cleaning; transporting to and from school and appointments; administration of medication and documentation; shopping; and other designated duties within reason. There will always be at least one staff member(s) in the facility if a child is present and at least one staff awake during sleeping hours. A minimum of one staff shall be available at all times. There must always be an on-call person on the schedule available within one hour of a request by the on-duty person. Direct-care staff duties/responsibilities include:
    1. Being aware of, and accountable for, each child’s ongoing activity.
    2. Providing the level of supervision necessary to ensure each child’s safety and well-being, including auditory and/or visual awareness of each child’s ongoing activity, as appropriate. 
    3. Being able to intervene, when necessary, to ensure each child’s safety.
    4. Protecting each child’s health, safety, and well-being.
    5. Ensuring assigned duties are performed adequately.
Staff must:
    1. Be aware of a child’s habits, interests, and special needs; including special supervision needs.
    2. Provide a safe environment.
    3. Cultivate developmentally appropriate independence in children through planned but flexible program activities.
    4. Positively reinforce each child’s efforts and accomplishments.
    5. Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming staff information about each child’s activities during the previous shift and any verbal or written information or instructions given by the parent or other professionals.
    6. Implement and follow the children’s service plans including staff to child ratio and supervision requirements.
If a child is participating in an unsupervised childhood activity, the staff shall:
  1. First get permission from the caseworker and Program Director, then know where the child will be and make contact with the adult involved in the activity and exchange contact information.
  2. Give the child a specific time to return to the operation or the staff’s location.
  3. Provide, arrange, or confirm an appropriate method of transportation to and from the activity.
  4. Give the child a way to contact staff in an emergency.
  5. Be available to respond if the child contacts staff and needs immediate assistance.
  6. Our staff shall maintain daily progress notes for our children concerning their treatment. Staff must sign and date each progress note at the time the progress note is completed.
  7. Transport residents as needed to appointments, outtings etc.
Pay Range: $15–$16 per hour
Compensation is based on qualifications, experience, and shift availability.
